WELLNESS PROFESSIONAL BIOS:

LYDIA SNYDER Shakuhachi Flute Performance and Meditation

Lydia Snyder is an instructor in the music department at Kent State and Hiram College,where she teaches musicology and ethnomusicology courses. She completed her master's degree from Kent State in Ethnomusicology in 2019 and holds a bachelor’s degree with a triple major in music, studio art, and theatre arts from Hiram College.  Her research and artistic interests include arts and intimacy, music cognition an sound healing, trance and altered states of consciousness,ecomusicology, and music of Japan.

Lydia studied shakuhachi at the Seiha hōgaku-kai in Tokyo and is an active member of the shakuhachi community in the United States, Europe, and Japan participating in the European Shakuhachi Society summer schools in Portugal and Ireland, the American Shakuhachi Summer Camp of the Rockies in Boulder, the World Shakuhachi Festival in London, and the International Shakuhachi Festivals in Prague.

Her work on meditation, trance, and sonic intimacy has been presented around the globe in theUS, The Czech Republic, Canada, and Japan.

ERICA HUSTON  Yoga Instructor and Reiki Practitioner

Erica is a holistic wellness practitioner who has been guiding people toward transformational clarity over the last 10 years. She founded Wild,Peaceful & Free in 2020 to explore the mind-body-soul connection,helping others embody their highest good through creativity, play,movement and breath. With a background in middle childhood education and school counseling from Kent State University, Erica brings expertise from her teaching experiences as well as certifications in Reiki, Yoga, Neurolinguistic Programming and more.  Excited about the possibility to foster positive change in the world, she believes this change begins inside out, one person at a time. Erica now spends much of her time  in the spaces of bodywork and well-being education,where she creates a warm, welcoming space for people to connect with their true selves, raise their vibrations and explore their limitless potential.

Susan Clark, a licensed professional counselor and art therapist, has resided in Kent since2010. She is the owner of WiseMind Counseling (located on the corner of Main and Water Streets). Susan was a member of Ka De Dunaa, a Kent-based West African percussion ensemble, for several years. Thesed ays she spends her free time practicing yoga, reading, and hanging out with her husband, Joe, and their scrappy rescue dog, Ellie.

ANITA GONTKOVSKY BIO (Tai Chi Demonstration)

Anita took classes from Bill Vandenboom in Kent from 2016-2020, took a break during the CoVid pandemic, and began again from 2022-2023.

She is certified to teach Paul Lam’s Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention.  She's been teaching Tai Chi since 2023.

DEBORAH LYNNE KEITH Poet

Deborah Lynne Keith has been practicing poetry her whole life. As a breast cancer survivor and person living with Parkinson’s Disease, she has found in her writing a path to understanding and healing. Her lifelong dedication to helping others and her spirit of curiosity, even in the midst of life’s most difficult moments, are woven through every poem in this book on love, loss, and letting go. Deborah lives with her husband and two cats, Chloe and Oscar, in a small, Midwest college town on the banks of The Crooked River.

JEREMY HUTCHISON Massage Therapist

After taking a course in Traditional Thai Massage at The Studio Cleveland in 2013, Jeremy was inspired to pursue massage therapy training at ASIS (Arizona School of Integrative Studies) in 2014. There, he was instructed in Swedish Massage, Neuromuscular Therapy, Connective Tissue Therapy, Craniosacral Therapy, Polarity, Sports Massage, and Injury Rehab.Returning to Ohio, he received additional training at Harmony Path.

Jeremy is a natural health enthusiast and enjoys all things outdoors including kayaking,rock climbing, learning about natural history, and just being out there.
