PLOT:

Tanya is a young girl in London who is having a tough time at home. On a foggy night, she heads out into the streets to wander, until she becomes so tired, she falls as asleep on a couch behind a dumpster. But it's not a couch. It's a sofa! It's an inter dimensional, time traveling sofa and it doesn't have a steering wheel.

Tanya finds herself befriending characters and visiting places that are beyond the realm of imagination. From the fortune telling Slenderwoman in the forest of flaming trees, to the cruel Necorodeuce and his gumball machine prison, we follow Tanya on a journey where no one is safe and nothing is normal.

Is there any hope that she'll ever make it back to the comforts of her own apartment in London? Or will some Old Man have decided to take over her home while she is out gallivanting around time and space?

Answers await in the African Community Theatre, May 17-19.

ABOUT THE NEW WORLD CHILDREN”S THEATRE

The New World Children’s Theater began as The New World Puppet Theater at the North Water Street Gallery in Kent, Ohio, in January of 1993. Originally, it was comprised of home-school children. Throughout the years , however, it has grown to include public-schooled children as well. Eventually, the troupe outgrew the puppets and the ensemble became The New World Children’s Theater, which has produced 26 plays since 1994. In addition to the emphasis on original play writing, the company is dedicated to using recycled materials in the construction of its sets and props. This fosters an understanding of a sustainable planet as well as an understanding of how to work with limited resources. The only requirement is a creative mind.

The New World Children’s Theatre is always looking for donations to support students from low income families as well as our ongoing activities. Donations are tax deductible and can be made to Standing Rock Cultural Arts, 257 N. Water St., Kent, Ohio 44240.

Thank you for supporting the kids.
