Haymaker Farmers Market Mural Project
Dear Friends of Standing Rock Cultural Arts,
I just got wind of great opportunity for another downtown mural, under the Haymaker
bridge. Little did I know, Jeff from SRCA has been involved from the beginning.
I should have known. David Hassler, Director of Wick Poetry Center has made a
generous donation to this project as well as providing the student teachers who
direct these poetry workshops in our Kent city schools. Elaine Hullihen, local
artist, has been involved in previous SRCA mural projects. Kelly Ferry Manager
of the Haymaker Farmers Market, continues to improve on the valuable resource
that the market provides to the Downtown community. This is a great example of
how a small local network can come together to improve our community. Just a
year ago, I became a member of SRCA Board of directors, because I saw the fruits
of the SRCA mission "building community through the Arts". I think the Haymaker
Market Mural Project also exemplifies the SRCA mission and deserves our support
and I have offered to expand their range by sharing our mailing list.
I have a goal of raising $100 to be donated to the Haymaker Farmers Market Mural
Project In the name of Standing Rock Cultural Arts.
I am asking you my friends of SRCA to help support this great community effort.
Just a couple of bucks at a time can made big difference.
Thank you for supporting the Arts,
Sincerely,
Jim VandenBoom
SRCA board member

Greetings,
Standing Rock Cultural Arts is a nonprofit 501(c)(3)
art and education organization based in downtown Kent. Our mission
is to Build Community Through The Arts.
We
nurture the spirit of creativity by providing opportunities for
children and the public to explore the arts. We do this by providing
opportunities for artists to bring their work to the community
through exhibitions, poetry readings, workshops, theatrical productions,
music performances, festivals, public art projects and special
events.
In an effort to help support these community-enriching activities,
we are initiating a new, low-priced, tax-deductible Membership
Plan in 2011 to supplement our other funding. We have student
memberships available for only $5 per year and a variety of plans
to fit individuals, couples, families, and even businesses! All
members will receive special benefits that are not generally available
to the public. Please read below to view the current benefits
of our membership plan. We look forward to adding additional benefits
as they become available and we invite any businesses to partner
with us on discounts. Of course, we will also continue, as always,
to accept any tax-deductible charitable contributions in order
to assist our mission of Community through the Arts.
Again,
your membership and/or contribution is tax-deductible and greatly
appreciated! Without the generous support of our donors and future
members, we would not be able to offer the diverse quality cultural
arts programming that we offer continuously throughout each year.
There is no greater compliment to our organization about how valued
our programming is to our community and area than your ongoing
support! Checks may be made payable to:

ABOUT THE OAC ARTS ACCESS PROGRAM
Why the OAC Supports the Arts Access Program
The arts play an important role in the lives of every Ohio citizen.
All
communities benefit from participating, experiencing, sharing
and
learning through the arts. The Ohio Arts Council has consistently
taken
a leadership role in developing creative ways to make the arts
available
throughout the state. The OAC pioneered general operating support
for
arts organizations beginning in 1978.
Funding from this program supports organizations that provide
essential
arts programming to their community and are integral to its cultural
legacy. Through our direct financial support of ongoing programming
by
arts, non-arts and cultural organizations, the OAC sustains the
vitality
of Ohio economically, educationally and culturally.
The Arts Access program allows organizations to plan and conduct
ongoing
arts programs—either a full year of activities or recurring
projects—in
both traditional spaces (galleries, concert halls, theaters, museums)
and nontraditional venues (hospitals, shopping malls, retirement
centers, places of worship).
The Ohio Arts Council (OAC) seeks to make a positive difference
in the
lives of individuals and in communities through the arts. The
degree to
which we fulfill that goal will be the ultimate measure of our
success.
We create value for the citizens of Ohio in partnership with the
arts,
education and cultural communities. Together we sustain Ohio's
artistic
and cultural assets, protect and preserve cultural traditions,
build the
economy and cultivate the imaginations of learners throughout
their lives.
Thank you for supporting the arts!
